Investigating Stories
We have been exploring
stories from our own lives and different cultures. Today the children
looked at three different pieces of art and chose one to write a story about.
Here is a sample of the children's work. If you have a story you would like to
share with the children we would love to hear from you.
One day there was a cat
when he was sleeping when a bank robber broke in. The robber poured some evil
juice on him and Long Whiskers (the cat) turned evil. He gave himself a new
name Reow Cat. He started to eat people. His owners woke up and when the sun
came up the potion wore off.

food. The cat said “I am hungry and get the food!”. Then the rats went and got

Adventures of the Horse Guy
Once upon a time there was
a horse guy. His name was Steve. He was really strong. One day he went for a
walk and he met Steve D. He discovered his house was on fire. He tried putting
out the fire and it worked so he went in but everything was burnt. Steve got a
new house and gave it to Steve D so Steve went home.

The Meal For A Cat
One day the cat king was
waiting for his meal. When all of a sudden the abandoned dog gang came barking.
“Help, help me!” whined the king but no one was around to help. Then the cats
who were getting his food came back. “Help me!” he cried. When he saw the other
cats coming towards him. So they chased the abandoned dogs away. Then they
returned to the cat king with a fish and a bird. After that the dogs never came
back.

One day in the indian shop there was a puppet. The shop keeper loved her. One day a fairy came and made he come to life. But she couldn’t walk well so the fairy gave her some sticks. She was a God! But she got shot by lightning so she went to wood again. The a lady went past and picked up the doll. The shop keeper said “She will give you good luck”. So when the lady went to bed she made a bed for the doll. In the morning there was chocolate everywhere.

One day there lived a God that got turned into rock. Before she got turned into rock she wore a dress, which was yellow, red, gold green, black, blue and orange. The dress also had beautiful charms. Sinta wore a shiny hat that she would wear all the time, but one day she went walking on the path, when she met an evil witch who turned her into rock.

One wonderful and amazing afternoon in India there lived a girl called Delphine. She was a princess. She lived in a palace. One night as her parents left to go to Australia. She woke up and left the room. She run outside and there was a man. He said “I have got magic powers. I will turn you into a puppet.”. And he did. Then her parents came and saw her. Then the man disappeared. He parents put her in their room and one day they put her in a shop and someone bought her.

Once upon a time there was a Thai princess called Sinta. Her mum’s name is Prini but everyone calls her Prin. One day Prin went looking for Sinta. Once she looked all around the palace Prin noticed that Sinta had gone. A few hours later Prin started phoning everyone she knew and told them all about how Sinta had gone missing. So they started looking for Sinta straight way. They go out into the forest and Sinta’s brother finds her and brings her back.

The Wooden Puppet by Edie
It all started in a peaceful wood, a woodsmen was cutting down a thick tree. It had a magic soul. The woodsmen did not see this. For if he did he would have kept it but he saw that it was a pretty piece of wood and would make a nice toy. So he sent it to a near by toy maker. When the toymaker saw it was a magic toy, so he made it a hundred dollars. Due to its cost, nobody wanted to buy it. A rich puppet show man bought it and made him rich. As soon as the show was over he put the puppet into a cage. At night she picked the lock with a pin and escaped. It was rainy that night so she went to some where dry to sleep. Surprisingly, the place was a toy shop and in the morning a girl bought the toy and grew up with it. And I think you know that girl.
THE MYSTERIOUS BOY AND PICTURE
One day a boy appeared from nowhere, he had a giant picture with a golden frame around it. On the picture, there were two wobbly snakes, which were greenish and dark blue. The picture and the boy got in the newspaper, under the headline “The Mysterious Boy and the Picture”. One day the boy went into war, and got shot with a triple gun, but the picture was saved. The museum kept the picture forever and ever but one night the museum keeper noticed something. Suddenly, the snake on the picture had disappeared. The keeper wondered where the snake had gone, “ah well, never mind.”

Once in the dreamtime in the desert there were two snakes. They had been separated by a grizzly bear. One of the snakes was grumpy and decided to attack the bear. So the next day he found a stone it was so sharp that he made a spear with it. So when it was dark he poked the bear. “Roooaaar!” the bear yelled. That is why bears have such a loud voice and a short tail.

One day, two snakes were having love. Then they went home and then they kissed. Then the girl had eggs. Then they saw the baby snakes.

Once upon a time there was a double headed snake. It lived in the desert. It was always eating all the Aboriginals. Then one day there were no Aboriginals left in Australia. Then the snake snake stated to starve and starve and starve even more unitl it died but the snake had powers but it couldn’t come back alive. It lay in a river bed for 100 years until it turned into a fossil.

One day two snakes were having a fight and got tangled up with each other. They fought a long way away from home. They fought near two lakes. One fell in! The other pulled him out. They became friends and only fought sometimes.

There once was a painting that sat on a table all day long. One day when all the kings and queens went out for dinner the painting came to life the two snakes in the painting found other stone snakes and tried to play with them. Soon there were yellow, black, brown and white balls bouncing aroud the room. And sooner than later there were Aboriginals calling up meetings about making seeds. Soon the kings and queens were back and everything was back to normal.
